Is STD Transmission Possible Through Oral Sex During Periods?
Two days ago I was over with my menstrual cycle and I had intercores and oral sex with my partner and during that my period came on again so what are the risk of catching an STD when injesting some of that blood... I mean I have no STD, infections or diseases.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A person can get infected through contact with blood, only if there is a break in their own skin or mucosal surface through which the infected organism in the blood can gain entry in the body. Otherwise, intact skin is a good protector and immune system also offers a line of defense.
So, in summary, the chance of getting an STI is low for both you and your partner, if both are healthy, in a single relationship with each other and no surface cuts or breaks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sabina Hussain
