Is Sal Mucolite Syrup The Medicine For Cough And Cold In A Child?
Hi, My son (2yrs) is having cough and cold from last 2 days. Also while sleeping taking long breath. Earlier 1 month back also he was having same problem with fever but now no fever.at that time i had consulted to doctor. he had given 1 injection and s-mucolite syrup (3.5 ml) 2 times daily for 5 days. Should i continue the same syrup?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Sal Mucolite syrup contains Salbutamol, which is a known bronchodilator and Ambroxol, which helps to liquefy the mucous. This can be used to treat cough. However, addition of anti-histamine with decongestant in the form cetrizine may be necessary as he is having both cough and cold. It would be better to consult Paediatrician in this regard and take an opinion regarding the same, before administering the medications. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
