Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - My son (10 months) has a 100.4 fever and the doctor has prescribed fepanil syrup (2 days) and Zanocin syrup(4ml) to be given for 5 days. I read online that Zanocin should not be given to children below 18yrs. Is this right ? Should I not give my baby this syrup?
Zanacoin is a brand name of ofloxacin. It is generally not recommended for infants and children because it can affect the growth of cartilages and bone. However short term use will not cause any significant adverse effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
