Is Zoloft 150 Mg The Right Medicine For Depression?

I am 68 years old & have been taking 150 mg of Zoloft once a day to treat my depression. I lost my job 8 months ago & have become increasingly depressed. I have Medicare Part A & B & am on Social Security limited income. Is there I am concerned about the costs. Q. Is there another medication I can be prescribed? Thank You

Hello,

I suppose you're talking about a cheaper drug, right?
You can use generic sertraline (sertraline is the active substance in Zoloft) or you can change to Lexapro (almost half the price of Zoloft) or generic escitalopram (cheaper). All of the above drugs belong to the same drug category. Generic drugs are equally efficient but carry only a fraction of the cost of the originals. There are doubts about the quality standards for some generics but in most of the cases, the same efficacy and side effects are expected when switching to a generic.

I hope I've helped!
You can contact me again, if you still have questions or you'd like me to provide any clarification.

Kind Regards!
