Hello,

Get stool tests (R/E and C/S) and fecal occult blood test (FOBT). Stool samples can be examined for leukocytes, occult blood, fat, pancreatic enzymes, alpha-1 antitrypsin, calprotectin, and infectious causes (bacteria, viruses, and parasites). Your treating doctor can tell you to get colonoscopy done if needed.

Blood in stool is indicative of hemorrhoids, fissures, IBD, colitis, STI, peptic ulcer, polyps, colorectal cancer, esophageal problems, endometriosis in female. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of the symptoms. You are advised to take pantoprazole, one stat when needed for relieve from pain stomach. If the pain is severe, go to ER, you may need intravenous antibiotics and pain killer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
