Is A Diet With Finger Millet During Pregnancy Harmful To Fetus?
Hi doc I have been consuming finger millet porridge at least once a week from the time I conceived.I am now 7 months. Today somebody told me that it is not good for the baby as in it will cause the foetus to catch hold of common cold while still inside the womb.is it true that pregnant women should avoid it.Appreciate your response on this. Thanks! Ramya
Hello Ms. Ramya, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. There is absolutely no harm in consuming the porridge. You need not have to worry about the false alarm raised by some ignorant person. There is nothing like the fetus catching cold while still inside the uterus with some food consumed by the mother. It is true that some infections of the mother can pass through the placenta to the fetus, but the concealed fetus is in a sterile and protected atmosphere for all practical purposes and in the normal situation until it is born. Hope your query has been clarified. Wish you safe motherhood.
