Keratoconus is a type of corneal dystrophy which can be difficult to treat and can be very challenging. Due to the abnormal cone shape of the cornea, sometimes there can be ill-fitting of contact lenses. Newer treatment modalities have come such as C3R. Corneal collagen crosslinking with riboflavin (c3r) is a promising treatment which can arrest the keratoconus in early stages. It can be tried for early keratoconus. It can be combined with plcaement of intacs also. For more severe forms of keratoconus, corneal transplanatation is needed.
