Is A Laser Surgery Necessary Prior To A Glaucoma Surgery And Cataract Surgery?
Hi, I saw a glaucoma surgeon today and he confirmed I need glaucoma surgery and cateract surgery. However, prior to doing these surgeries, he wants to do laser surgery for narrow-angle surgery. My question is: Is this necessary since he is going to do the normal glaucoma surgery anyway? Thanks. Dan C
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, it is absolutely necessary to do a laser for narrow angles before your surgery. We have to dilate your pupils before cataract surgery and without this laser we cannot cure as your intraocular pressure will rise. Kindly undergo laser surgery.
Hope it helps.
