Is A Myelomalacia Decompression Surgery Advisable For An Elderly Person?

My 86 year old father has been diagnosed with Facet arthropathy of lumbar (He s had 3 back surgeries 20 years ago) and Myelomalacia of cervical cord. He has had triple bypass surgery, 2 strokes and moves with a walker only a few times as necessary. Is he a good candidate for Myelomalacia decompression surgery? Would the post complications of surgery be too much for him to withstand. He is in constant lumbar pain 24 hours a day.
