Is A Prostate Operation Required Due To Urinating Issues Among Elderly People?

Am on ismo 2 daily. Simvastatin 20mg. Asprin 100mg. Apo-Cilazapril 5mg/12.5mg. Finasteride5mg. Tamsulosin.4mg. Have seen a Specialist, this last week, and now awaiting a date for a prostate operation. Currently, after two years, on drugs I have no problem urinating or dribbling. Two months backs their was a short period when this wasn t the case, thus my visit to a urologist. I am aged 85. I am fit for my age. Weigh in at 65Kilos and am now 6 6 in height. I have some reservation about an operation at this stage. Should I go ahead and get it over now, because of my age, or wait until there is more positive deterioration. Have the two drugs now, possibly done the trick, and I may have no further problems. Also, are there any possible consequences following this procedure that I should take into account. Kind Regards. Am aged 85. Heart condition well managed.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
From your history it suggest that you have benign prostatic hyperplasia. Treatment of BPH is medical and surgical. Medical treatment is Tamsulosin and finasteride that you are taken. Surgical treamtent is trans urethral resection of prostate (TURP). Decision of surgery depends on prostate size, volume, your symptoms and frequency of infection and response to drug.

So your ultrasound report is needed to get those information.
If you are comfortable with drugs then no need to worry. You can wait. Otherwise surgery is needed. Please send me your ultrasound abdomen report. So that I can help you further.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
