Is A Small White Dot On An Open Wound After Removal Of A Melanoma A Matter Of Concern?

I had a melanoma removed from my leg . It's now healing as an open wound because I couldn't have stitches being that it was on my shin . Inside the wound I noticed a small white dot forming . It has gotten a little bigger and is soft to the touch . Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Hi,

If the white dot is soft, it could be a sign of an infection. But, there are other possibilities too. As it is getting bigger, you should consult your operating surgeon for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Siva Subramanian,
