Is A Tetanus Shot Advisable After Scratch From Nail During Pregnancy?
Hello. I received a very light scratch on my finger from a nail in some furniture yesterday. Not rusty that I could tell. I am 29 weeks pregnant. It's been well over 10 years since my last tetanus shot. Should I get a shot and is it safe for me to being pregnant? Can it wait until my OB appt on wednesday? Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understood your concern. A nail scratch ,weather rusty - or not, should be followed by a tetanus within 24 hours of injury. For once the skin is punctured by the nail. the tetanus spores are likely to contact & enter body. You can take it right away, it will cover TT regime in Obstetric care also. Thanks.
