Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, My son has been having fever since yesterday morning. He is 11 months old. I started with 0.8 ml of adol every 5 hours since yesterday. In the night he had become more hot, so I did cold compress for half an hour and increased the dose to 0.9 ml after which the fever had come down. His body is still a little warm and he is tired. Only running nose, no cough. Is Adol enough for him?
The symptoms such as running nose & fever, as mentioned in your post suggest that your child is suffering from Upper Respiratory tract infection.
Adol (pharmacologically Paracetamol) will help in relieving the fever only. For symptomatic relief from cold, antihistamine preparation like Cetrizine syrup can be added along with a course of antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection. If fever persists for more than 2 days, then it will be advisable to consult a Pediatrician for proper clinical examination. Investigations like complete blood count, peripheral smear for malaria, Dengue serology will be helpful.
Meanwhile...keep him protected from exposure to cold, maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status.
