Is Alcohol Consumption Safe While On Azithromycin?
I’m drinking to much wine that is my only drug, I stop for few days and then I start again I can drink one bottle at night I have therapy once a week my father and my mother where alcoholic I have NTM I’m taking ethambutol 400 mg. Two tablets Rifabutin 150 mg. Two capsules Azithromycin 250 mg. One tablet My cuestión is that with all this antibiotics ( can I take This drug ?)
yeah, in general antibiotics and alcohol do not have much of an interaction. This is NOT THE CASE WITH THESE. All of these hit the liver and in particular rifabutin may have liver toxicity. Azithromycin is not commonly liver toxic BUT it can interfere with liver metabolism of drugs. So, this will icnrease the action of both the alcohol and the rifabutin and increase the potential toxicity of either/both on the liver.
