Thanks for contacting HCM. dear patient usually a rise in BP as yours(170/100) usually means medications and that too life long. But some times it may be possible to get off the medication. you can try following -
1. Avoid stressful situations if possible.
2. Meditate regularly, there are different methods of medication, find out what suits you.
3. Exercise regularly. For you best is walking for 40 mins a day.
4. Eat healthy. Avoid high calorie, junk and fast food. Avoid refined and processed food.
5. eat plenty of fresh foods and vegetables.
6. Cut down of salt intake, avoid high salt content foods like Chinese food, pickled food etc.
7. Use olive oil for cooking.
8. Loose weight. If you are obese then loosing a few kilos can really get you off the medication.
9. Avoid smoking and tobacco.
