Is Anal Douche Safe For Cleaning Colon?

I curious if anal douche is good or bad for my health. I know many people in Russia practice this kind of cleansing of colon but I cannot find any info on American sites. It seams like people just concerned about anal cleansing before anal sex. But I just want to clean my colon for health reasons.
