I had ultrasound on thyroid a year as ago as had on right lobe tiny cyst in inferior right measuring 9mm. Now a year a year later, now I have multinodular goiter with bilateral multiple tiny cyst like nodules with interernal ethos and peripheral increased vascular flow. My left now has a dominant nodule and a appears cryogenic measuring 0.4x0.6x1.3cm My father never had thyroid problems and he just died of aneplastic thyroid cancer. Should I be concerned. I am 52 and what can I expect from endocrinologist, what will he do?
According to history you are having multinodular goitre with cystic changes....
Thyroid scan can be done which will able the demonstrate hot and cold nodule. Your thyroid profile will be done.... Anaplastic malignancy usually not cystic . And you have no feature of malignancy like weight loss , anorexia etc...
Still thyroid biopsy can be taken which will reveal exact diagnosis ....
Anaplastic carcinoma found to be due to P53 gene mutation. If you have malignancy then biopsy will rule it out...
Take advise from endocrinologist for examination and subsequent work up.
Take care
