Is Anterior Dislocation And Restricted Range Of Motion At Age Of 61 A Cause For Worry?

I had a anterior dislocation of my shoulder. 61 years old. It s been 6 weeks, and I m working on increasing range of motion. It is difficult to raise arm above shoulder height, and I have bruise marks appearing on upper arm. Should I be concerned about internal bleeding and range of motion at this juncture?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As of now immobilize the be limb preferably in a sling. Consult an orthopedic at the earliest and get an X-ray done. Most cases managed conservatively without surgery.

If you experience repeated dislocations, surgical correction may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
