Is Ayurvedic Treatment Known To Have Treated Depression?
Hello,
My father is suffering from Depression. We have cosulted good psychiatrist also and he has given
primary medicines for that.
Right now my father used to sleep whole day. He is having no interest in his work and he is not going to work also. The primary reason we are seeing for his depression is his overload of work in office.
Please suggest whether we should go for any aurvedic treatment?

1. work pressure is associated with Psychiatric morbidity,particular depressive disorder resulting in poor compliance and increased morbidity and mortality from the disease.
2. Ayurveda herbal medicines like Brahmi,Mentat,Ashwagandha have been shown to have positive effects in treating depression.,moreover they are non-habit forming and have none of the side effects of modern antidepressants.
PS.
1. avoid incompatible-heavy food, alcohol,suppression of natural urges, excess of anxiety/ grief/anger/fear,waking long during nights,
2. avoid stimulants at night: like garlic,onion,ginger,spices in diet, tea/coffee.
3. for best result oriented drugs, contact with an Ayurveda physician there who will work up for Panchkarma procedures (Shirodhara) along with necessary medicines.
