Is Back Up Birth Control Required While Taking Placebo Pills?
Hello, I am having my wisdom teeth taken out on friday and in an information packet given to me it said that if I am using an oral contraceptive (which I am) then I need to use back up birth control. But at the time of the surgery Ill be on the placebo pills of the birth control, will I still need to use back up birth control when I start the new pack?

Hi,
Some antibiotics decrease the efficacy of oral contraceptive pills. In such case you should used back ups like barrier method such as using condoms while having intercourse. If you are using placebo and antibiotic finished 3 days before starting the real one then you are safe. But still better to use condoms for some days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
