Is Benign Tumour On My Thyroid Causing Infertility?
I have a benign tumor on my thyroid gland and ma doctor advised me for surgical removal for the tumor ,and getting eltroxin every single day on my life,is there any risk on me getting pregnant on the future ,or is there any proplem in getting concived at the first place.
Hi thanks for using healthcaremagic ... Decision regarding thyroidectomy(thyroid removal) depends on some factors 1.FNAC report (benign or malignant) 2.Any pressure symptoms (wheather the thyroid is causing any impact on the surrounding structures) it causes constant throat irritation, cough, voice change etc 3.Rapid increase in size of the nodule
The endocrinologist/Physician will take the decision depending on these features
It is hence safe to remove a suspicious nodule and take Thyroxine lifelong. There won't be any problem in conceiving later
Hemithyroidectomy or near total thyroidectomy will be decided by the surgeon after discussing with you.
thank you
