Is Black And Blue Lump On Breast A Sign Of Hematoma?

I fell on my side 3 weeks ago and unfortunately my right breast took the brunt of the fall. It turned black and blue and now I have a fairly large lump in the middle of my breast that I am fairly certain was not there before the fall. It is about time for my mammo, but I wanted to wait until all of the bruising was gone to schedule it. Could it be a hematoma or something from the fall?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the given description, most propably it could be a Hematoma resulting from fall. Generally, these hematomas resolve spontaneously within 2-3 weeks.

Use simple analgesics like advil or aleve as and when needed.

Moist heat fomentation over the involved area will help in early resolution of the hematoma.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
