Is Bleeding After Taking Levonelle The Onset Of Early Periods?
Hi, and thank you for your time. I took levonelle after having unprotected sex and I believe it was around a week later I started bleeding, I was not due a period, but I understand that it is quite normal to bleed after using levonelle. My query is, is this bleeding supposed to happen as well as my monthly period, or was that bleeding my period for that cycle? Secondly, how can taking more than one levonelle during a cycle affect a period? Thank you.
I will do my best to help.after taking Levonelle, as you indicated in your question, it is common to have irregular bleeding. However, it is unpredictable what bleeding pattern will continue afterwards. sometimes you may have your regular period on time, and other times it may take a month or two for your cycles to return to normal. there is no harm in taking it twice per cycle, however, if you are taking it that often, your bleeding patterns and cycles will be affected and will be quite unpredictable.
You should really be getting on some regular birth control so you have normal cycles and more reliable protection. Drugs like Levonelle are one designed for occasional emergency use.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards, Dr. Saul Weinreb
