Is Bleeding Along With Abdominal Cramps After Dilation And Curettage A Matter Of Concern?

I gave birth to a stillborn on May 22 2018 then had a d&c a couple of hours later. This was my 3rd time having a d&c. With the first 2 I healed quickly and had no problems. This time I am still bleeding and cramping. It s worse after sex. Could something be wrong this time?

Hello,

Slight bleeding is quite common after D&C. As a first line of management, you can take drugs like Mefenemic acid/Tranexa combination for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists, it is better to consult a gynaecologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
