Hi,I am Dr. Aniruddha Malpani (Infertility Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Am worried about my upper stomach,iv just done IVF with 3 embryos transfered back in me, my upper stomach feel bloated than my lower stomach making me feel too full. I'd like to know if this is normal. Am just 2 weeks pregnant and it feels like 2 months. What is wrong or is it normal with IVF?
This can be from progesterone supplement which is routinely prescribed after IVF. After you conceive your body also start secreting progesterone. Progesterone reduces motility of intestines and cause constipation and bloating.
Bloating is common side effect of all drugs used to treat infertility. No need to take any treatment for this.
I would suggest you to have frequent meals 5 times a day as small divided amount and drink lot of water I.e 2 to 2.5 liter per day.
Abdominal bloating is normal. Don't worry. There are 2 reasons why it happens. One is due to progesterone hormone. This will decrease motility of intestine and cause constipation and bloating.
You may be taking external progesterone tablet to maintain early pregnancy which is generally given after IVF. If not taking then once you become pregnant your body start secreting progesterone.
