Is Blood Clotting Slowed Down Due To Blood Thinners?

My husband is on blood thinners and somehow scratched the outside his ear. He woke up with blood coming out of that spot. now he is having trouble getting it to stop.mHe has been putting pressure on it for several minutes. also he says that some of the blood drained into his ear an he can,t hear as well from that ear.

Hello,

Yes, usually blood thinners may decrease the platelet function lead to inhibition of primary plug formation in the clotting mechanism. Is he on warfarin or on antiplatelet drugs? But ear-bleeding if not stoppable, then please consult your treating doctor check PT/INR status, platelet count etcetera. He will advice alternate treatment for your problem.
