Is Bloody Cough Common During Tonsillectomy?

Hi I recently had a tonsillectomy 4 days ago, but I was woken this morning at 5.30 coughing. I ended up coughing up a lump of black/red blood and I ve been spitting a bit of blood since. When I looked at the back of my throat I noticed one whole side is black/red whilst the other is still white/green, is this normal? Thanks

Hi.
This is not normal to have blood after 4 days of tonsillectomy. The black and red on one side is suggestive of active bleeding, the green on the other side is suggestive of an infection.
I Would suggest you to undergo admission in a hospital for observation, Intravenous fluids and antibiotics, gargles, ready to restitch if required.
