Is Brain Damage Possible After Cardiac Arrest?

a 16 year old boy hit with a baseball in the chest - heart stopped for 8 minutes. He is now in ICU hasn't woken up. Is there a chance he will not have suffered severe brain damage? They are cooling him down, but doesn't that only work if it 's done right away?

Dear
I am sorry for what happened to your child
Brain needed time to regenerate after staying for some minutes without blood and oxygen
Unfortunately 8 minute is a long time but the examination which will give more information is brain MRI
Your boy should absolutely be consulted by a neurologist
It is still hope so you have to be strong
Hope you son will be fine again
Wishing him fast recovery
Regards
