Is Burning And Peeling Of Skin A Side Effect Of Retino Gel?

HI ... I have black marks on my face I am using Retino AC gel as per the suggestion of my friend. It is not prescribed by the doctor. But after four days of application of the cream my skin is peeling off causing some burning sensation and the affected area has turned into red. is it a side effect of gel?? or is it getting cured??

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic.

Retino-AC gel contaisn topical tretinoin+clindamycin in a gel base. It is a very effective medicine for acne.

Tretinoin has this property of irritation and skin peeling called 'Retinoid Dermatitis', which can be troublesome at the start of therapy.

If I was the treating doctor I would have want you to stop using Retino-AC gel temporarily, and instead use a topical mid -potent steroid twice daily for 3-5 days, to help resolve the dermatitis faster.

Use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion rather than using a soap.

regards
