Is Burning Sensation In The Ankle While Recovering From A Fracture Normal?

Hi, I am recovering from a tibia and fibula fracture. It s been 4 weeks since I got out of a cast. I can walk now with one crutch or sometimes none. Few days ago, I started feeling discomfort in my ankle. It burns up sometimes and it swells a little. Is this normal??

Hi,

Yes, this kind of burning sensations is normal at the fracture site. These sensations are due to the healing and regeneration of nerves at the fracture site.

So no need to worry much about these sensations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
