Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have forgotten to bring BP tablet TELEACT 20mg which I used take daily in India. Now I am in Lima. Today my BP is 150/110 .. The doctr here prescribed CARTOPRIL 25 mg.. Need advice, whether it is okay.... I am having little pricking pain last two days
Yes. Captopril(CARTOPRIL) is effective for controlling your blood pressure. Though it belongs to different class, it has almost similar action like that of your old drug. You need to get your blood pressure checked regularly as suggested by your treating physician. One important point to note is that you should never discontinue the anti hypertensive medications. Discontinuing might lead to serious consequences due to sudden increase in blood pressure. And about the pricking pain, I need more details about the site and severity to comment on it. When you are on captopril, the main things to watch for is swelling confined to face, mouth, lips or extremities. If you encounter any such swellings, then report to your physician immediately. Hope these suggestions helps you.
