Is Cellulitis Symptomatic With Edema And Rashes On The Knees?
I have been traveling and walking a lot. Developed edema several days ago. It gets better overnight but does not go away. Yesterday I developed red splotches on my ankles and legs, up to the knees. I am on two blood thinners. Can this be cellulitis? We just got home. Should I see a doctor tomorrow?
Hi. As per your case history of edema, my treatment advice is - 1. Cellulitis has the clinical features of edema, redness, pain and fever. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
