Is Changing Birth Control Pills During Periods Safe?
I took another contraceptive pill of a different brand which was also a 21-day pill and finished the whole pack. I have my menstruation still and ,on schedule, needs to take a pill today but this time I will take Althea...Will it be okay?or Do I need to wait for my menstruation to stop before taking Althea
Hello there, You can take another brand contraceptive pill the same way how you took the previous one. There is no need to wait for period to get over. Normally you need to leave a 7 day gap after completing 21 days of pills. If you have left the 7 day gap then you can take your new brand starting as scheduled with your previous brand. Just make sure that the new brand has the same composition as the previous one to ensure that you are not subjected to higher dose or different molecule if at all. Although there is no problem if you are taking it only for contraceptive purpose but if it was prescribed to you for any other reason then dose and molecule is important. Hope this helps. Take care.
