Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently been losing a lot of weight drastically; I am only able to just about eat one meal a day. I have a doctor s appointment today at 12 to discuss why. I have done my research on the Internet and I have come to a conclusion that Ciplactin pills may be something to ask the doctors for. What are the chances they will prescribe that medication to me? Many thanks Laura Brooks
Ciplactin is a medication used to help improve appetite which would then help with weight gain.
Before prescribing any medication to improve appetite however, your doctors are going to want to determine the cause of your weight loss.
This would require a careful history and physical examination.
Investigations would include blood tests such as full blood count , ESR (looking for inflammation in the body), liver and kidney tests. Imaging would also be needed- the imaging requested may vary according to the results of history, examination and initial investigations.
I hope this helps
