Is Circular Indentation Below Hip A Cause For Concern?

I have a circular indentation 4 inches below my hip on my back side. No raised areas, just indentation the is dry and scaly regardless of how many times i put lotion on. Do have hip pain, but thought it was normal until now. The indentation is about 3 cm deep. Is this serious?
