Is Clear Fluid Discharge From Underneath Nails Due To Infection?
I stubbed my toe while hiking a month ago and jammed my toenail. Now suddenly the nail seems to be lifting from the nail bed. I noticed there is a clear fluid coming from under the nail and some bleeding. Is this an infection? I am in between doctors and not sure how to treat this. Any advice would be great.
Seems that the nail is going to come off, probably it got traumatically seperated from its nail bed.
Discharge from the beneath the nail definitely suggests infection. In such a situation it is advisable to take an oral antibiotic for a week and after the infection dries up it would be better if you could get the nail avulsed from a surgeon lest it might caught up in something and become painful/ may get infected again.
