Is Clotirmazole Safe To Use For Vaginal Itching During Pregnancy?
hi..actually my wife ,aged 24 is pregnant now and its started 7th month now..but recently she is facing a problem having some kind of itching on the part of vagina.It was consulted with the gyneacologist and she has been referred to use the medicince Clotrimazole vaginal tablets ip candid-v3. My querry is , is it safe to use the medicine at this point of time and how to use it? Earlier she has undergone a surgery for the spleen (2009)(splenectonomy) and the same has been removed.As per doctors advice she has taken the Mencevax Acwy 0.5 ml.She was also taking the medicine Inderal, from 2009 onwards.But since the pregnancy was dioganised Inderal was stopped after consulting with the physician. Vaginal infection especially due to candida are most common during pregnancy due to changes in vaginal ph. Clotrimazole is generally considered safe to be used in pregnancy. This anti-fungal drug has no embryotoxic potentials and can be safely used in pregnancy.
