Is Congenital Bicuspid An Irrecoverable Condition?

My father had open heart surgery today. Went in to remove an anguerisim and Aorta replacement. Congenital bicuspid. It was taking a long time to get him off machine, came out and said it was absolutely necessary to do double bypass. We were not given lots of details. He is now in an induced Coma for at least 48 hours. Dr says he may never recover?

HI
ANEURYSM REPAIR AS WELL AS AORTIC VALVE REPLACEMENT SURGERIES ARE HIGH RISK CONDITIONS,
that means his condition on cardiac by-pass pump itself might have been deteriorated, with need of increased clamp time of the aorta, more cardioplegia, recurrent fibrillations,
all these can deteriorate, the cardiac function with poor out come post surgery.
if he is in induced coma then you can wait for his prognosis till the 48 hours.
with such conditions & double by-pass the condition remains critical with poor prognostic outcome.
all the best
