Is Constipation And Cramping Normal In Early Pregnancy?
I am about 5 weeks pregnant. I am Experiencing abdominal discomfort, random cramping (ranges from mild to borderline painful), and I have a butt cramp that I can feel down my left left for about 2 days. I am also experiencing a change in my bowel movements, I am not able to go as often and feel a bit constipated. Should I be concerned
Hi, Your symptoms are indeed related to very early pregnancy. The cramping is felt as the tubes contract and also as the uterus enlarges to accommodate the growing embryo pulling along its attached ligaments. Constipation is also due to the hormone effect consequent to pregnancy. You can overcome this by increasing the intake of fiber in the diet and also liquids. If the pain is severe or is felt in the vagina and/or is associated with discharge, you should immediately report to your doctor and get help. Please take adequate rest, avoid intercourse and stress. Hope this helps.
