Is Continual Bigeminy Dangerous?

Is continual bigeminy dangerous? with a normo BP, no chest pain or any discomforts, no SOB, my husband was fighting fire on a roof in 125 degree heat with Prednisone 60mg at peak blood levels and lost his ability to breathe under the SCBA. He felt really bad and had to get off the roof before he fainted. So he had heat exhaustion and they discovered he had bigeminy and has not stopped it. After Prednisone 60mg for 5 days, then 40mg for 5 days, then 20mg for 5 days, he then weaned very slowly off the junk. He was given this without my knowledge for a sinus infection. He has some asthma symptoms in the past and has used Albuterol, antihistamines and decongestants on a regular basis. So the Cardiolyte test showed a weakened heart globally at 42% EF. but after another week after the Prednisone was finished and out of his body the Echo results were different.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Reduced ejection fraction may be due to the cardiac failure of stage 2-3 or corpulmonale. asthmatic attacks or hypertension or hyperthyroidism may cause ventricular bigeminy.

It is not much risk in a patient with heart failure it may aggravate the risk. Need to stop caffeinated drinks, alcohol, salbutamol or b2 agonists.

Need to be treated with antiarrhythmic drugs. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
