Is Continuing With Pregnancy After Giving Birth 7 Months Ago Safe?
hi doc, my last menstruation was on the 26th of last month (March). Supposed, this month shld already come, but still no sign of period yet. I had a test today, and it shows positive result. I had two C-section, and my youngest is 7 mths now. My gynea even told me to keep distance due to wound breakdown, and its just recovering. I am in confusion whether to keep or abort!! can u pls advise, and how old is my pregnancy btw?
You were very rightly advised to keep a distance of about 3 years between the two caesarean sections. However, now that you are pregnant, you have to weigh the risk between the abortion and continuation of pregnancy. Now you have crossed 3 months of pregnancy. The risk in termination of pregnancy after 3 months will be definitely more than continuation of pregnancy.
To support your body and overcome the loss of nutrients from previous pregnancy, please take iron folic acid calcium tablets and have good high protein and high carbohydrate diet.
You can monitor the integrity of the scar by ultrasonography. If it shows any evidence of stress by 37 weeks, elective caesarean section can be performed after or at 37 weeks when the baby is sufficiently matured.
If this time you are undergoing caesarean section, please get tubectomy done during caesarean section to prevent any further pregnancies. Three scars on the uterus make it sufficiently week.
I hope this clears the dilemma in your mind.
