I HAVE TUMER (CANCER) ON MY KIDNEY. I AM 84YRS OLD AND HAD NO HEALTH PROBLEMS WHEN THIS HAPPENNED. dR SAYS THE BEST THING FOR ME IS TO FREEZE THE TUMR. hE SAYS IT MAY RETURN BUT HE CAN DO THE SAME PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES. dO YOU KNOW IF THIS ISTHE BEST WAY TO TREAT THIS CANCER? YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You have a kidney cancer which is probably in early stage. In this situation completely freezing the tumor is a good treatment option. It is called cryotherapy and in this the tumor cells are frozen and destroyed. Just like heat therapy, we have cold therapy.

Considering your age at 84 years, surgery might develop complications and bleeding might be difficult to control. Surgery and neo adjuvant chemotherapy with radiation therapy is recommended for young patients but it is important to know your general condition and if you can withstand the surgery. Cyrotherapy is a safe method and will control your cancer. Please follow up regularly with your doctor. Please do not worry.
