Hello Doctor, I m really scared and please need your help. I m 31 years old and my periods are very regular, I almost get them 4-5 days prior to my previous start date. My last period ended on the 4th of April and on the 8th day of my period, that is on the 5th of April, me and my BF made love but he did not penetrate. He had precum on his penis and wiped it with a cloth. Accidently I ended up using the same cloth to wipe my vagina a few seconds later. I m really scared now, could I be pregnant? Is it possible that sperm, in case it was there in the precum, could swim in? Please help.
Thank you for Q If you have very regular cycles & have missed period - you must get preg test done. Considering period ended on 4th April - risk of falling preg due to intercourse on 5th is still very negligible though but I am not sure if you have missed a period in May , June, July & August - hence I recommend get urine preg test done.
Your love making was on the 8th day of the period. There were very low chances of pregnancy on this day since chances of presence of egg get fertilized are very low.
Egg is released (ovulation) 14 days prior to the next expected menses. You get menses after 26 days, so day 12 is the day of ovulation for you. Egg has life of 24 hours while the sperms are active for 72 hours. Hence a period of about a week around the day of ovulation is fertile period, which in your case would be from April 8 to April 16. So your love making was on the borderline day.
Moreover, there was no deposition of even precum in your vagina. Wiping the vagina with the same cloth used to wipe precum on penis would not carry any risk of pregnancy. I do not feel you carry any risk of pregnancy from this love making act.
Still if your menses are delayed, you may carry pregnancy test on the urine 8 days after the missed period for confirmation. Earlier, these tests may report false negative. Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test which is reliable even few days before missing a period.
I hope this helps you.
