Is Depakote Highly Recommended For The Treatment Of Bipolar?
Is Depakote highly recommended for the treatment of Bipolar? I m on Tegretol and have been using this med since 2000. My new psychiatrist is talking about Depakote and I m not interested because it has a lot of side effects. I was on Lithium for eight years and experienced an enlarged right parotid gland as a result. What would be your suggestion?
Lithium, valproate and carbamazepine, all are mood stabilizer. Though, out of these valproate is best, but if your are maintaining well with tegritol (carbamazepine), then there is no need to shift to depakote(valproate). I would not suggest to change in mood stabilizer in asymptomatic case. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
