Is Doxycycline Effective In Treatment Of Filariasis?
Hi sir i have problem with my rigth one leg is affected it may be due filariasis as doctor said i am from bangladesh Doctor said Recent treatment of filariasis Doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 8 weeks. Alog with Benocide( Diethylcarbamazine) 100mg thrice daily for 12 days initially and then for 7 days every month for 3 to 6 months i am in dubai now i broght doxycycline and lactic acid bacillus capsules 100 mg and benocide 100 mg by one of my friend from india i just want to confirm is it the right medicine which is doxycycline?

Doxycycline is a very common drug used in treatment of filariasis. It typically kills filarial nematode (i.e. the causative organism) and studies have shown it is quite effective.
Besides, it prevents secondary bacterial infection too. You can continue taking the drug.
