Is Drinking Safe When On Medication After A Knee Arthroscopy?

i had a knee scope and was prescribed 4mg tablet dilaudid (hydromophome) not sure about spelling. Have been taking 1 approx. every 4 to 5 hours and sometimes I let more time go by and only take it when I am in real pain. I have not taken a tablet in about 6 hours and wanted to have a drink. I know alcohol use with this type of medicine is not a good idea, but was wondering how long I have to wait until my last dose before I do have a drink? Thanks

Hello,
I have studied your case. Dilaudid should not be taken with Alcohol as these both can cause sedation and dizziness. So you have two options.
1.First you need to stop Dilaudid and take other pain killers. Arthroscopy is any way not a painful surgery. Dilaudid has serious abuse potential. So better to take any safe pain killer like Brufen or tramadol.
2.If you can stop Dilaudil than you need to avoid taking alcohol.
I hope this annswer will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
