Is Dying Hair Safe During Pregnancy?

Hello, I am just wondering because I have seen answers on both sides of this debate, about getting hair dyed while pregnant. I am currently in my 26th week of pregnancy and wondering from a doctorial viewpoint if choosing to dye my hair will negatively affect my babies (twins). I have had a healthy pregnancy and know that I will not have time after, but don t want to risk if there is in fact evidence to prove it is not a good idea. Thank you for your time.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

No trials or studies have been conducted to test if hair dye application can cause harm to the developing himan fetus. But from various observations made by doctors around the world, chemicals used in the dye can be absorbed into the circulation from the scalp causing harm to the fetus.

Of course, as mentioned above nothing has been studied and the cause has not be pin pointed towards the application of hair dye. So it comes down to whether or not dying your hair is worth it, at this juncture.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
