Is Epilepsy Is Curable For The Child?

My grand daughter aged around 8 years is attacked with Epilepsy when she was in 2 years age and has been being treated with carbamazepine under the advice of a specialist pediatric doctor of Apollo Hospital in Dhaka.
My questions are 1) how long she will have to take this medicine and 2) this disease is curable at all.

hello
i have gone through your query. Most children who are treated with Anti epileptic drugs (AEDs) continue taking them until there have been no seizures for two years. After two years of being seizure-free, the chance of having another seizure is reduced to 30 to 40 percent.but children with other neurologic problems (eg, cerebral palsy) have a slightly higher risk of having another seizure after the AED is stopped.AEDs should be reduced slowly rather than stopped suddenly. This means that the dose is reduced on a weekly basis over several months.and yes the disease is curable and the long-term impact of seizures is small for most children.
hope this ans helps.take care
