Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hell there. I'm someone who enjoys a good couple of drinks every night but I've since wanted to change that behaviour. So I'm trying my best to come up with some alternatives. Right now I'm drinking one part soda water, one part orange juice and then mixing in cranberry juice for the rest. My question is this...I know that it's better than drinking all that alcohol but is too much OJ bad for you?
Hello Sir! Congratulations on changing your ways and looking towards leading a more energetic life! You asked a very good question. Yes, too much orange juice is NOT good for you. It is high in sugar and calories. A 4 ounce serving of orange juice has around 60 calories or 120 per cup (averaged). So, now you are drinking high sugar beverages. Do you have access to anything with Stevia (makes things sweet without calories and is an herb, not chemical) in it? I do not know where you live or what foods or beverages you have access to. I encourage cutting back on the juice and look for a tasty beverage with stevia in it. So, to summarize, anything over 1.5 cups of juice of any kind is too much sugar, especially consumed all at once late at night. Chamomile tea anyone? It will help relax you. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
