Is Fast Heart Rate, Normal During Pregnancy?

Hi, I just had a baby 06/30/2010 and today I went to the ER for a fast heartbeat. I had a CT scan and a chest xray. They ruled out any clots but my d-dimer test was 1144 and the range is suppose to be <230. Is that elevated from being pregnant? They want me to follow-up with a cardiologist tomorrow.

Hello,

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that yes it is an emergency and you most likely need to start with blood thinner medication and considering your pregnancy you should personally consult a cardiologist for further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
